Hi there - I've just now found your wonderful post on Snow Geese. I share your love and awe of the spectacle and the sounds - and "honkle" is officially my new favorite word!

Our facility is very close to the Middle Creek Refuge. We have linked your site with ours at http://adamstownlodging.com/wildlife.html . With the economy in it's current state, we have found that people are attempting to re-discover the finer things in life, and our guests return from Middle Creek refreshed and enlightened. Thanks for such a valuable resource.

Hi Nina, thanks. Both times I've been there the estimated count was at about 60,000 geese. I am hoping next year I can get there during the peak. But no matter, the geese taking off is really beautiful.

Those are great photos of the geese taking off over the field.
Something I have never seen, but would like to--someday.

I love that word, too! I plan to use it whenever possible without going overboard. It has so many possiblities. And,since I created the word, I can use it when geese are in the air, unlike "gaggle", which only applies to geese when they aren't flying (as mentioned in the blog).

I will look forward to hearing you use "honkle" at the Birdathon this year.

I like your new word. Might have to start using honkle in casual conversation here.
